Mar 24th Meeting: Breastfeeding 101

Join us for our March meeting as we discuss "Breastfeeding 101: How to Get the Best Start."

We'll talk about how to prepare for breastfeeding before the baby arrives and then, what steps to take following birth, to give you and your baby every advantage of getting breastfeeding off to the right start! We'll also discuss breastfeeding resources - books, websites and local resources - and invite our attendees to share their experiences and information. Our discussion will be led by Jennifer Steinbach, a DONA-certified postpartum doula with breastfeeding support experience.

Our monthly meetings are free and open to the public (dads, partners and babies are welcome!) and are held at 6:30pm every 4th Tuesday of the month at BirthMark, 33 Bishop Hollow Rd., Newtown Square.

Feb. Meeting - Community Resources

Join us on February 24th at 6:30pm to discover & share our local, family-friendly community resources:

Where can I find playgroups?
Who's your favorite pediatrician?
Is there a cloth-diaper service?
I've gotta get out of the house in the winter - where can I take my baby?
Where can I exercise that has childcare?
Who's your favorite well-woman care provider?
Where can I get breastfeeding help?

List goes on and on....so join us as we share, compare and discover all that our community has to offer right under our fingertips! We'll also dish on our favorite books, magazines, websites and blogs.

Our meetings take place every 4th Tuesday of the month @ 6:30pm at BirthMark, 33 Bishop Hollow Rd, Newtown Square.

Remember, all are welcome to attend (including babies, dads and friends), meetings are free, and we always make time to answer any of your questions on pregnancy, birth and the early motherhood years.

The Wonders of Baby Sign Language!

Did you know your baby can learn to tell you when he is hungry before he can talk? Or when he is finished eating and wants to get down from the table? Or that you can tell your baby "no touching" across a crowded room without saying (or yelling) a word?

YES YOU CAN - with Baby Sign Language!

And it is easier than you think!  

Join us for our October meeting on Oct. 28th at 6:30pm at the Newtown Square location of BirthMark (33 Bishop Hollow Rd.) as we learn about the benefits and some basic "how-to's" of baby sign language from instructor, Meg MacCurtin. Learn when and how to get started and discover all of the fantastic benefits to both baby and parents.....plus we are eager to learn from experienced parents.

As always, we'll have time to answer your questions about any pregnancy, birth or postpartum topic. Meetings are free and babies and little ones are more than welcome!

The 2008 Breastfeeding Challenge - Oct 11th

Calling all breastfeeding moms, babes, expectant parents, breastfeeding supporters and advocates....

Join moms around the world on October 11th as BirthMark and our chapter of Dar a Luz Network host the Media site for the 2008 Breastfeeding Challenge.

11am - Moms & Babes will "latch-on" and be counted toward the world-wide tally (non-nursing supporters are encouraged to join the crowd to make a statement in support of breastfeeding).

12 pm - Raffle for a $50 BirthMark gift certificate.

12pm - A Breastfeeding Support/Education Group led by BirthMark's Lactation Counselor, Jackie Kelleher (a great opportunity for expectant and nursing moms).

Added Bonus - All breastfeeding products at the Media BirthMark boutique are 15% off on Oct. 11th. Store hours are 11am - 4pm.

Why? To celebrate breastfeeding and demonstrate promotion, protection and support for breastfeeding women and families....a chance for education and peer support in a fun and social way!

Massage Therapy for Mom & Babe - coming in September!

Join us on September 23rd at 6:30pm and learn about the basics and benefits of massage therapy for mom & babe! Kymberlie Combs, an LMT specializing in prenatal and infant massage will be our guest speaker. Did you know that massage therapy for infants can decrease their "fussiness" and improve digestion?
